Facing the Giants
November 7 & 8, 2020
Whenever we think of a giant, we envision the story of David and Goliath. Goliath – size and strength personified, stature doubling the size of our biggest men towering over the armies of Israel taunting and mocking us.
David, not a soldier but instead a young shepherd boy sent to deliver lunch to the army and his brothers. From the eye of man, the Goliath has already won. But we know that David served a God who was much greater.
Nowadays, the giant looks different, still a towering formidable figure, frightening the hearts of men, frothing at our failures and flaws. But these Giants have different names and move in different ways. Still causing us to focus on frightening features leaving us frozen and falling to our knees.
Will we continue to falter and fear these Giants or will we, like David, find fortitude and fearlessness in God? Will we allow our doubts and disparities to discourage us or will we answer the call and be determined to be delivered from our disasters?
